Who can apply for an ISIC card?
If you study at a university, institute, college, school, academy, or any other recognised educational institution, whether through in-person or online learning, this card is perfect for you. There is no age limit, so you can enjoy all its benefits as long as you are a student.
To be considered a student, you must be undertaking at least 15 hours of study per week for a minimum period of 12 weeks per year at an educational institution (school, college, or university) recognised by the relevant educational authorities.
No longer a student?
Don’t worry! If you are 30 years old or younger, you are eligible for the International Youth Travel card (IYTC). With an IYTC card, you’re still part of the ISIC global community and can take advantage of thousands of similar benefits and discounts that the ISIC student card offers.
If you study at a university, institute, college, official school, academy, whether it’s face-to-face teaching or online training, this card is perfect for you. It has no age limit, so you can enjoy it as long as you’re a student.
The quickest and cheapest way to get your card is via this website, with the Online Card Application form:

In a few minutes you can enjoy your Virtual Card and, if you order the physical version of the card, it will arrive at your address in a few days.
Issuing offices:
You can also get your card at an Issuing Office. Some are issued immediately! Check all the physical points of sale here and make sure you take all the necessary elements with you.
To apply for the ISIC card we will ask you for some personal details (first and last name, name of your school, date of birth, email and address). In addition to these details, you must also upload the following documents in digital format:
- Proof that you are a student (with your name, school and academic year);
- Proof of your date of birth (ID, Citizen Card or Passport);
- Passport photo – jpeg format, face photo, in color, with a neutral background and no accessories to cover your face.
To issue your card in Portugal, we need proof that you are Portuguese or live in Portugal or that you are studying at an educational establishment recognized by the Portuguese Ministry of Education.
In Portugal, the ISIC card costs €10 in its digital version. If you would also like to receive your ISIC card in physical format, you will need to pay an additional €3.20 for shipping costs.
The standard ISIC is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

Paying by Bank Transfer
If you choose to pay by bank transfer, you must send the proof of payment to pagamentos@isic.pt or upload it in the My Card area, together with:
- Proof of payment
- Name of the account holder

When will my card be issued?
Your ISIC card will be issued once:
- your submitted documents have been validated;
- your eligibility for the card has been confirmed;
- your payment has been successfully confirmed.
For payments made by Bank Card, MB WAY, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Wallet, the payment is initially authorised and will only be captured after your card application has been approved.
If additional documents or information are required, you will have 3 days to provide them. If this deadline is exceeded, the payment authorisation may expire, and you will need to make a new payment to complete your application.
For payments made by Multibanco Reference or Bank Transfer, your card will be issued once the payment has been successfully received. Depending on the banking institution, this may take 1 to 2 business days.
We have different shipping methods, with different times and costs:
- Virtual format, less than 24 working hours.
- Simple registered mail, delivery in 2-3 working days, to addresses in mainland Portugal and the islands.
Please note that we do not send cards abroad. Physical cards will only be sent to addresses in mainland Portugal and the islands.
IMPORTANT:
- Your card will be processed and printed on the working day we receive your payment, within our opening hours, as long as the payment is identified in our account by 15:00.
- If you need the card urgently, we recommend that you request the card at one of the Issuing Offices or in advance of the date on which you need the card.
Please make sure you enter all the information and your full address correctly, including door number and floor. If there are any problems with your registration, please contact us immediately. If you do not inform us, we will process incorrect data and your card will be issued and your order will be non-refundable.
